Ohio State football adds former USC kicker Parker Lewis as transfer


COLUMBUS, Ohio — For the second straight offseason, Ohio State football is bolstering its competition on special teams. Former USC kicker Parker Lewis announced Friday he will join the Buckeyes as a transfer. He will have at least two seasons of eligibility remaining, and possibly a third due to playing six games in the pandemic-affected 2020 season. Lewis made 17 of 22 field goals last season with a long of 52. He could compete immediately with Noah Ruggles for placekicker duties, even though Ruggles was an ESPN All-American last season after making 20 of 21 field goals last season. He passed up the NFL Draft to return for a final season of eligibility. He is not enrolled in school this spring but coach Ryan Day said he is expected back for preseason camp.
