Former Ohio State QB Cardale Jones signs with Edmonton of the Canadian Football League

Former Ohio State quarterback Cardale Jones (left), seen here with current Buckeye quarterback C.J. Stroud at OSU’s Pro Day in March, has signed with the Edmonton Elks of the Canadian Football League. Cardale Jones is giving pro football another shot. The Edmonton Elks of the Canadian Football League have signed the former Ohio State quarterback, who led the Buckeyes to the 2014 College Football Playoff championship. The Elks also announced that Jones’ OSU teammate, J.T. Barrett, had been transferred to the retired list. Barrett was the starting quarterback in 2014 before he broke his ankle against Michigan, causing Jones to get his chance. Jones and Barrett competed for the quarterback job in 2015. Jones opened the season as the starter, but Barrett eventually took over. Jones threw for 2,323 yards and 15 touchdowns with seven interceptions in his Buckeye career. More: Where are they now?
