Ohio State kicker Noah Ruggles has returned to the team after sitting out spring practice. “He needed a little time away,” coach Ryan Day said Friday afternoon, “but he’s back.” After transferring from North Carolina last summer, Ruggles made an immediate impact for the Buckeyes with his accuracy. He hit 20 of 21 field-goal attempts in 2021, including the game-winner in the Rose Bowl victory over Utah, a level of precision that made him one of three finalists for the Lou Groza Award as the nation’s top kicker. Special teams coordinator Parker Fleming referred to Ruggles’ absence from spring practice as “kind of a personal thing.” “It wasn’t a big deal,” Fleming said. “It was nothing bad.
