COLUMBUS, Ohio — Donovan Jackson arrived at Ohio State ahead of schedule, in ways beyond the offensive lineman’s strength and unique athleticism. Paris Johnson Jr. says it best when describing his own journey. Entering his third year, the former top offensive line prospect in the country finally feels he is approaching the game with the correct focus and intentionality. Jackson, though, endured no such transition period. “Donovan’s had that since he enrolled in school, which has been really impressive,” Johnson said. “He asked a lot of questions — really good questions. Older guys doing something and he’s right there, trying to figure it out.” Jackson is now four practices into his second preseason camp — a timeline Johnson said he routinely forgets. He arrived last summer and as a true freshman carved a niche as a sixth offensive lineman in special packages.
