COLUMBUS, Ohio — Cody Simon has been Ohio State football’s third linebacker throughout the season. Last Saturday against Iowa was simply the first opportunity to embrace that identity. The Hawkeyes played more multiple tight end sets and also utilized fullbacks on occasion. Simon played 24 snaps — his biggest workload of the Big Ten season — lining up alongside starters Tommy Eichenberg and Steele Chambers. It wasn’t only a busy day, but a productive one, too. Simon collected six tackles, including two tackles for loss and his first sack of the season. “Definitely a lot of progress was made,” Simon said. “We practice this stuff all throughout the year, but certain game plans and stuff like that comes up and our coaches felt like that was the right move for that weekend.
