Ohio State names McCord starter for remainder of season

Ohio State will stick with Kyle McCord as its starting quarterback for the remainder of the season, head coach Ryan Day said Tuesday, per ESPN’s Tom VanHaaren. Day said that McCord “earned that opportunity” with his consistency to begin the season. With the move, Ohio State officially fills the vacancy left by C.J. Stroud, who led the program to a Rose Bowl appearance and a College Football Playoff berth last season. McCord started the team’s first two games – against Indiana and Youngstown – after battling Devin Brown throughout the offseason to earn the top spot on the team’s depth chart. Brown is still expected to get snaps over the course of the season. McCord passed for 497 yards, three touchdowns, and one interception while completing 64.2% of his pass attempts through his first two starts.
