Ohio State football veteran defensive starter to miss remainder of regular season


COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State football expects to play at least the remainder of the regular season without one of its most dependable and experienced defensive leaders. Ryan Day confirmed the “long-term” nature of Lathan Ransom’s still-unspecified injury means the four-year safety cannot play “in the next couple of weeks.” That means he’ll miss next week’s pivotal regular-season finale at Michigan. Day said there is “a chance” Ransom can return for the postseason. Ransom suffered the apparent lower-leg injury in the fourth quarter of a 24-10 victory at Wisconsin on Oct. 28. He was carted off the field and transported by wheelchair to the locker room. He did return to the sideline soon after under his own power, but has not played since.
