My Mock Class 2.0

A lot of potential targets have landed elsewhere lately so I will try to give you a rough estimate of maybe what to expect, or at least consider. In the past month Alex Anzalone and Lewis Neal left the Ohio State recruiting class. Darrien Howard committed to West Virginia. Ethan Pocic committed to LSU. It was also released that Josh McNeil is no longer in the plans for Ohio State. I will go on the premise of 20 scholarships being available. Quarterback: J.T. Barrett (1). It was thought all along that Ohio State would take the commitment of 2 quarterbacks in this class. I no longer think that will be the case with Aaron Bailey joining the Fighting Illini, Malik Zaire being apart of the Irish, and Mitch Trubisky committing to North Carolina. If another quarterback joins the class I see Tra’Von Chapman being the only option. I will stick with Barrett, and Barrett only. Running Back (1): Ezekiel Elliott. Miles still has the notion that Derrick Green will be …

Short update on 2014 Texas OT Demetrius Knox

I talked with 2014 Texas OT Demetrius Knox recently. Knox is going to be amongst the best offensive offensive tackles for the class of 2014. A lot of buzz has been out recently on what his summer visit schedule would be like. I exchanged a few messages with Demetrius to confirm that schedule. Also, remember, Demetrius did grow up in Ohio. He is a native of Springfield, Ohio and moved to Texas when he was in the 7th grade. My last update with Knox, he iterated that Alabama, Texas, Ohio State, and UCLA were the 4 schools sticking out. Alabama, Texas, Ohio State, and UCLA still sticking out. Said Oregon is right up there with those schools now. Will for sure visit Texas, Texas A&M, Baylor, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Florida, and Alabama About the visit to Ohio State: “A visit I want to make but it is not set in stone yet. It’s a maybe.” A lot of conflicting reports out there saying that Knox would visit Columbus for sure this summer so that should

Introduction to 2014 Safety C.J. Reavis

6’1 195 pound safety C.J. Reavis is an up and coming star in the class of 2014. The safety comes from Chester, Virginia. He is beginning to rake in offers from several elite programs and there will definitely be more to come. Reavis had a good sophomore season leading Thomas Dale H.S. to the 3rd round of the playoffs in the state of Virginia before losing to Hermitage H.S., home of 2013 running back Derrick Green, and current Ohio State linebacker Curtis Grant. Ohio State certainly knows this area on the recruiting trail. Here are the highlights to my conversation with C.J. Reavis. 5 offers in total: Virginia Tech, Virginia, Maryland, NC State, and Boston College Also receiving interest from Michigan, Ohio State, Alabama, Cincinnati, Miami, and Clemson Was also a fan of South Carolina and LSU growing up, so he is hoping for offers from them Has talked to Coach Zach Smith of Ohio State Supposed to call Urban Meyer at some point (an offer could come at that point) Supposed…

Taquan Mizzell update

Taquan Mizzell is an elite running back out of the state of Virginia. His intial ranking among scouting services has received a huge boost after he tore up the camp and combine circuit. Most recently, he was bumped up to the #43 player in the country by Rivals. A few days ago Mizzell announced his top 10 schools. I caught up with Taquan to discuss his top 10 and more in his recruitment. Top 10 in no particular order: West Virginia, Virginia, Miami, Clemson, Ohio State, Notre Dame, Virginia Tech, Illinois, NC State, and North Carolina Notre Dame most recent to offer: Excited about that offer and has them in top 10. Mizzell is excited and feels the same about every offer he receives though. Thrilled and excited to reap the benefits of his camp performance. Mizzell said it was nice to see his hard work pay off. His size right now is 5-foot-10 and 187 pounds. Will also be attending the Rivals 5 star challenge in Atlanta, The Opening, and Gridiron Kings. Will have…

Introduction to 2014 DB Jabrill Peppers

With the 2013 recruiting class filling up quickly, especially on the defensive side on the ball, the staff has started to set their sights on elite 2014 defenders. One of these players is Paramus Catholic (NJ) defensive back Jabrill Peppers. Jabrill has already earned 5 star status on 247 Sports, and is ranked 3rd overall. Jabrill has an impressive offer sheet early on in the process, Ohio State, Michigan, USC, Alabama, Notre Dame, and Miami are just a few of the schools that have extended an early offer to the 2014 standout. Jabrill and I talked about his recruitment to this point, and we also touched on his interest in Ohio State. As always, I will be in touch with Jabrill throughout his recruitment. Make sure to check back for more updates on 2014 star in the making, Jabrill Peppers. Brotherly Bond: Robert Foster and Jordan Whitehead Update

Central Valley High School in Monaca (PA) is the well known home of 2013 receiving sensations Robert Foster. It is also the home of rising 2015 star Jordan Whitehead. Not only two these two teammates star together on the football field, they are also very good friends, as Foster says “Obviously we’re real close, he’s like a little brother to me, he’ll be going through the same process that I’m going through right now. On the field, the coaches look at the two of us as the leaders of the team, we do what it takes to win.” Rising 2015 defensive back, Jordan Whitehead has similar things to say, “We’re like brothers, and the leaders on the field. Our teammates look up to us when something is going wrong on the field.” The bond that Foster and Whitehead share stretches beyond the field, Whitehead recently went on his first college visit, to Ohio State with Foster. Introduction to 2014 ATH Jalen Hurd

Jalen Hurd is a rising prospect in the class of 2014 out of Nashville, Tennessee. He is receiving a lot of attention, and rightfully so. Hurd last year accumulated over 1600 rushing yards and 450 receiving yards. Along with those accomplishments, Hurd also scored 28 overall touchdowns Hurd played running back, was split out wide, and will also play safety this upcoming season. The recruiting of Hurd is astonishing giving the prestige of programs that have offered. “So far I have been offered by Alabama, Tennessee, Ohio State, Ole Miss, Vanderbilt, Cincinnati, Nebraska, Mississippi State, and North Carolina”, said the talented offensive player. I asked Jalen about what he thought about Ohio State so far early on. “It is absolutely amazing to get an offer from Ohio State. I actually just got off the phone with Coach Meyer. I called him and he expressed to me that he really wanted me to become a Buckeye and that they were definitely interested in me. He told me about the school, …

Mock Class 2.0

Mock Class 2.0

A lot has changed since I last did a mock class. These things include a surprise commitment from Tracy Sprinkle, Joey Bosa, and a few others including J.T. Barrett joining the class, plus two de-commitments from players I originally had pegged in this class in Lewis Neal and Alex Anzalone. We also saw Cardinal Mooney linebacker Courtney Love, a player most thought was an OSU lock change his mind last minute and commit to Nebraska. I had the class at 20 in my first mock class, and will use that same number for this one, though it could be a bit of a stretch. Without further a due, here is the second edition of my 2013 mock class. Quarterback: Commit(s): 4* J.T. Barrett , Wichita Falls (TX) Rider HS Spots left: One Prediction(s): None Name to Watch: 3* Tra’Von Chapman , Kent (OH) Roosevelt Running Back: Commit(s): 4* Ezekiel Elliott , St. Louis (MO) John Burroughs HS Still favoring OSU? (Per 247 Sports) Spots left: One Prediction(s): 4* Derrick Green , Richmond (VA) Hermitage HS: The Buckeyes…
