Introduction to 2014 Marion, OH RB L.J. Scott

L.J. Scott last year was a standout running back for Marion Harding High School in Ohio. Scott is a power back but knows he can make moves in the open field as well. Scott claims he is a huge fan of the Big Ten, and even though he considers himself to be a power running back, would not pick schools based on the type of offense they run. Scott is currently in track and field right now. At the time I spoke with Scott he had just won districts in high jump and the 4×1 relay for Marion Harding. The next stop is the regional meet. How has the recruitment been for the football side of things? “I do not have any offers right now but I’m receiving interest from a few schools like West Virginia, Louisville, Michigan, Ohio State, Syracuse, and Cincinnati”, said the talented running back. “Last year I went on visits to Michigan and Wisconsin to…

Introduction to 2014 Springfield (OH) LB Davonte James

Davonte James is a LB on Ohio State’s radar for the class of 2014. It is a very talented linebacker class in 2014 but James will get some consideration from the Buckeyes. James was among the top 100 in 24/7 sports class of 2014 top 100 players. The linebacker from Springfield, OH will be one to keep an eye on going forward. Middle Linebacker in a 3-4 defense for Springfield H.S. Played Quarterback as well last season, but that experiment is done Shows what kind of athlete Davonte James is Getting recruited by some schools as an Outside Linebacker No offers yet Receiving interest from Ohio State, West Virginia, Boston College, Illinois, Bowling Green, Michigan, and Penn State His contact with Ohio State is Coach Hinton Will be talking with him soon Will go to camp at Ohio State Also plans on visiting Illinois Factors in decision: Academics and the school/atmosphere

Recruiting Notes: Cornelius Elder Update

Cornelius “Corn” Elder, out of Ensworth High School in Nashville Tennessee is yet another play-maker on the Buckeyes’ radar. Cornelius has only scored 10 offers thus far, with the one from Ohio State standing out as the biggest offer in my opinion. Elder has flown under the radar for the most part, especially to Buckeye fans, I honestly wouldn’t be shocked if he ended up in this class, especially if Derrick Green goals elsewhere. I briefly caught up with Cornelius and he informed me mainly of his summer plans. Check back for more updates on Cornelius, as I will be keeping in-touch with him throughout the rest of his recruitment. Holds offers from Ohio State, Vanderbilt, Tennessee, Nebraska, Ole Miss, Miss. State, Arkansas State, Cincinnati, North Carolina, and Georgia Tech. Alabama and Miami expressing interest. Summer visit plans: “Nothing is set in stone, but I’m planning on visiting Ohio State, Cincinnati, Miami, Alabama, and Vanderbilt.” Relationship with Ohio State: “I talk to Coach Hinton a lot…

Recruiting Notes: James Quick Update

As most of us know, the Buckeyes are looking to land a couple of play-makers at the wide receiver position in the 2013 class. One of the players sitting at the top of the Buckeyes’ board is Trinity (KY) High School wide receiver James Quick. Quick is not only a great football player, he led his basketball team to a state title, and won the 200 meter dash in track for the third year in a row. As a result of being busy with two other sports, James has taken recruiting slow. He has however made it out to Ohio State once already, for the spring game and really enjoyed his visit. I recently had the chance to ask James about his summer plans. Here’s what he had to say: Recently won 200M dash in track (20.94 seconds) for the third straight year. Top 3 of Ohio State, Oregon, and …

Introduction to 2014 OL Rod Johnson

Offensive line is one major area of need for the Buckeyes. While you will probably see three offensive linemen in the 2013 class, that will not be enough to fix the issues along the offensive line. One potential target in the 2014 class is Hazelwood Central (MO) offensive linemen Rod Johnson. Standing at 6’7″ 310 pounds, Rod is one of the top offensive linemen in the class of 2014. While Rod has yet to have too much contact with the Buckeyes, look for things on that front to pick up in the very near future, as Rod is one of those “can’t miss” prospects in the 2014 class. I had the chance to chat with Rod earlier this evening, we chatted about his recruitment, potential visits, and more! Make sure to keep a close eye on Rod, as I’m sure you’ll see the Buckeyes extend him an offer in the not too distant future. I will be keeping in-touch with Rod throughout his recruitment, make…

Recruiting Notes: Josh McNeil Update

The Buckeyes would like to take two tight ends in the 2013 class, and Hillside (NC) High School tight end, Josh McNeil is the last on the board for the Buckeyes. Josh his a high upside prospect that has “blown up” following his junior season, which was his first playing football. I quickly talked with Josh about his leaders, visit to Ohio State, his upcoming decision, and more! Josh and I will be chatting again after his visit, which is in a couple of weeks. Make sure to chat back for that. Coach Withers was at Hillside checking in on Josh this past Thursday. Visiting Ohio State June 21st. On what he’s looking forward to seeing on the visit: “Talking to Coach Meyer face-to-face. Also seeing if I’d want to call Ohio State home for 4 years of my life, I need to feel comfortable there.” What he likes about Ohio State: “The chance to win a championship and Urban Meyer.” Also visiting Alabama, Georgia, Florida, and Miami before he decides. How big is Alabama’s lead? “I would…

Recruiting Rundown: May 24

Another week has passed and not too much has changed in Buckeye Recruiting World. There have however been a couple of minor changes/achievements that have led to big changes in this weeks edition of the recruiting rundown. Keep reading to find out which prospects are highest (in my opinion) on the Buckeyes’ recruiting board. Note: The recruiting rundown features only prospects the Buckeyes have a chance at landing. 11. S Su’a Cravens (previous: NR): I don’t think the Buckeyes have a great shot here as I’m pretty sure Su’a will end up at SC. However, he is visiting in about a week, and if Coach Meyer pulls a miracle off on the visit, you never know. I usually don’t include players that the Buckeyes don’t have a great chance at getting in the rundown, but with a guy as talented as Cravens, you kind of have to, especially since he’s visiting in a week. 10. OG Khaliel Rodgers (previous: NR): Khaliel will be on campus for a visit likely next Friday. While most recruiting services have him…

Recruiting Notes: Khaliel Rodgers Update

Delaware offensive guard prospect Khaliel Rodgers is a player the Buckeyes are expressing a lot of interest in. Khaliel will be in this week’s addition of the Recruiting Rundown, which will be released later on to tonight.I exchanged a couple of messages with Khaliel tonight, and he informed me of when he’ll be visiting Ohio State and of his new decision date: Top 6 (no order) of Auburn, Ole Miss, Ohio State, UCLA, West Virginia, and UConn. USC would join that group if they offer. Visiting Ohio State “most likely” next Friday. On what he wants to see: “Just the basics.” Now announcing his college decision June 30th, was previously annoucning at US Army Bowl. Also visiting Auburn before he decides.

Marcus Ball Update

Marcus Ball Update

Next offer? (Courtesy of TWIF) While the Buckeyes have been able to land most of the Ohio prospects they’ve offered, they have yet to offer a player from Columbus. This may soon change, as the Buckeyes are showing increased interested in Columbus (OH) athlete Marcus Ball, and may be close to extending an offer. Ball is a very intriguing prospect, he can play all over the field, as he’s being recruited as a quarterback, wide receiver, linebacker/safety hybrid, and as a natural safety. Once Marcus lands that coveted Ohio State offer, I would not be the least bit surprised if he eventually became a Buckeye. Read on to find out more about Marcus’ recruitment to Ohio State. As always, check back for more updates on Marcus, as I will be in touch with him throughout the rest of his recruitment. How’s recruiting going for you right now? It’s going smooth, gets hectic at times because I have so many teams talking to me…

Latest on Nick Glass, Orlando Brown Jr., and Demarre Kitt

Nick Glass is a top safety in the class of 2014 from Atlanta (GA) at St. Pius X Catholic High School. Glass is already committed to Georgia but plans on taking visits still. The safety was one of the first offers to go out in the class of 2014 from Ohio State. What is the latest on Glass? A week or two ago I exchanged texts with Glass that concluded with him telling me he remained committed to Georgia, however, he would be taking visits to Ohio State and Clemson. A tweet from Glass last night: @ Nick_Glass24 Visiting # OhioState this summer. I’m ready for it. I also exchanged a few texts last night with Nick Glass. He informed me that him, Orlando Brown Jr., and Demarre Kitt, all 2014 Georgia high schoolers with Buckeye offers, would be visiting Ohio State on July 9th. Glass, Kitt, and Brown will also be visiting Michigan, Auburn, Clemson, North Carolina, South
