
COLUMBUS, Ohio ? The coming fall will technically be the offseason for Ohio State football. So how much can the Buckeyes practice while other teams attempt to persevere through the coronavirus pandemic and conduct their normal fall seasons? The NCAA’s Football Oversight Committee voted Wednesday to established a 12-hour week for those teams. Teams are limited to five hours of skill instruction with footballs, helmets and spider pads. Practices must be non-contact — which most teams would likely implement anyway for the sake of COVID-19 avoidance. Strength and conditioning, meetings and film review are also allowed in the 12-hour window. Players must receive two days off per week. The Division I Council adopted the proposal as “emergency legislation,” and the guidelines will be effective through Oct. 4.
