COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State football’s defensive coordinator Kerry Coombs has an ideal build in mind when he recruits cornerbacks. Usually, they stand around 6 feet and 185 pounds. In the Buckeyes’ 2017 recruiting class, he found four who fit that mold in Kendall Sheffield — a junior college transfer who started his career at Alabama — Jeff Okudah, Shaun Wade, Isaiah Pryor and Amir Riep. Coombs also wanted to add a player whose size and skillset made him a perfect candidate as a slot cornerback. He found that in Ohio native Marcus Williamson. “It’s a matchup business, right?” Coombs said. “He’s playing more in the slot than he is outside because more of the slots we’ll play against will be (of) similar size and stature players.” The senior stands at 5-foot-10 and 186 pounds, which is the same size as some of the Big Ten’s best slot wide receivers…
