
INDIANAPOLIS — For the second time this season a Big Ten defense neutralized Justin Fields, but Ohio State football still walked away with a win. Fields completed just 12 of 27 passes for 114 yards and threw two interceptions as the Buckeyes knocked off Northwestern in the Big Ten Championship. He probably wasn’t going to win the Heisman Trophy this season, but a quality game could’ve solidified him as a finalist. That is probably a longshot now with the way some of his peers are playing while his two worst games of the season came against OSU’s only quality opponents. While he and the passing attack struggled, the run game had its best game of the season behind Trey Sermon’s 331 rushing yards, a program record. The positive is that Ohio State’s other facets showed up and it should be enough to reach the College Football Playoff on back-to-back seasons.…
