Ohio State sophomore Irina Cantos Siemers lost to No. 7 seed Abbey Forbes of UCLA 6-3, 6-4 in second-round NCAA tournament singles play on Monday in Orlando, Florida. In the first round on Sunday, Cantos Siemers defeated North Carolina’s Cameron Morra 6-2, 6-3. Cantos Siemers won the final three games of the first set, including two breaks, to take a one-set lead. In the second, Cantos Siemers won four of the first five games for a 4-1 advantage. Morra, who was ranked 27th, won the next two to make it 4-3, but Cantos Siemers broke and held, winning on the no-ad point in the final game, to take the match. In the 32-team doubles tournament late Monday, Ohio State’s Isabelle Boulais and Kolie Allen faced North Carolina’s Sara Daavettila and Morra, the No. 2 seed.
